New media Ecosystem & Multimodality, Audience Expectations for new generation! Apple Ipad!



Apple product had release new product that is iPad after iPhone. iPad is a new device that play as normal computer with smaller space comparing with normal computer. The function of iPad is such as portable, touch screen, operating system, internet function, gaming and long battery life. Comparing with normal computer, it is a new item that show begins of new era of media technology. This product is attractive to the new users of Apple.


According to Apple Ceo Steve Jobs, iPad is a potential product that success between smartphone and laptop. Market of iPad grows very fast and the consumers for iPad are increasing. Steve said that iPad is better than smartphone and laptop and the requirement to make this product at least must better than this two products. The function of iPad is most similar but adding new application and items to iPad is the way to attract customers to buy the product. If iPad are totally same with smartphone and laptop, the product are hard to be attract by new customers and current customer because people won’t try new product but use old product such as laptop.

According to Walsh (2006), text, video and audio must be good so that the product is completed a good product. But iPad seem doesn’t make the requirement when using internet compare with laptops. iPad used touch screen that is electronic screen so it is hard to make the product being so good in order to produce a product with a fare price. But better product should be better quality.


Even though iPad able to function same as laptop, it should be similar with laptop and better than laptop. According to Kress, V Leeuwen (1996), iPad maybe lost its niche market due that the product does not meet the requirement and it is not better than laptops.

For my opinion, iPad is a great product and it may change the technology in the future by adding more application that same with laptop and more applications. Even though that iPad doesn’t not better than laptop, but some of the function is better than it. For example: having good review for iPad than laptop. Therefore, iPad may success in the new media technology.
